there's gotta be a reason the astros didn't tender him a contract. and
23 HRs and only 58 RBIs kinda worries me. he's probably strike out
prone - hopefully not on the order of a kelly shoppach who's good for
a K every 3 AB's - has been for the last 3 seasons. divide his ABs for
3 and you've pretty much got his K's for the season. that's the main
reason i'd use him as trade bait *if* santana was anywhere near being
ready.
to me, anybody who's got more than 20 HR's should have at least 65
RBI's or so - unless they lead off a lot of innings, which means
there's nobody on base - but more significantly, the guy ahead of him
in the order make the last out of an inning WAY too often. otherwise,
i'd rather see them do what mike hargove did, start being more
selective, shortening the swing and getting more walks. he's 6' 225,
so he's probably strong enough to hit them out without hitting them as
hard as he can.
is there any place online that lists a hitter's BA with men on base?
