The Expos' AAA affiliate played its last game in Edmonton last night,
and unlike the Expos they neither had attendance problems nor did they
need a new stadium. They left because of what the Expos' kerfluffle is
all about: someone was willing to pay more money.

If the Expos ARE still in Montréal next season, I wonder where their AAA
team will be. Will they continue with the former Edmonton franchise in
Texas, or is another option opening up? Anyone know if the Senators will
still be in Ottawa?

ok, from what I can gather, the Edmonton franchise will be moving to Round
Rock Texas, which currently has a AA team. Round Rock will be replaced by
Corpus Christie. The Astros will be putting their AAA team in Round Rock
which will open up New Orleans as a possible site for the Expos AAA team.
the Ottawa baseball team (which is called the Lynx by the way) is the
Orioles AAA team, and I don't know if the Orioles will be leaving or not.
but Ottawa will be there.
on another note, Greenville SC will be losing their team to Pearl MS,
and El Paso, TX will be moving to Springfield MO. as well.

The Trappers were forced by the PCL to be sold to Nolan Ryan and his group
for a total of 10M$. Apparently, since the Calgary Cannons left for
Albuquerque two seasons ago, it was too much of an hassle for teams to come
up this far up north to play only in Edmonton. There will be a AA (or is it
single-A?) baseball team in a year or two that will play at Telus field but
I don't know how drastic the change in quality will be.

I went to a Trappers game las week and had the opportunity to see Andres
Galarraga play with the Salt Lake Stingers (Angel's farm team). It was a
great game. I believed AAA baseball is more fun to watch than MLB. While
in Dallas-Fort Worth I went to a couple of games and I really enjoyed the
Fort Worth Cats (AAA, Central Baseball League) way more than the Rangers.
And the CBL being an independant league with no affiliation to any MLB
teams, there was no talk about going on strike (that was 2002).

Although I wish the Expos could stay in Montreal, I think that a AAA
baseball team in Montreal would be a great idea: lower ticket price, no high
salaries like in the majors and small outdoor stadium that doesn't cost
billions. Montreal fans should go and watch a game in Ottawa or even the
single-A Vermont Expos in Burlington.

El Paso Diablos are moving? They've been around for over 30 years and I
though the franchise was healthy. I really enjoyed going to their games
back when I was located a little more south than I am now...

Expos fan in Northern Alberta

It's actually going to be an independent Northern League team, so expect
a huge drop in quality.

I used to live in Oklahoma City and would love to go the their AAA team
as well, it is a great brand of baseball and ALLOT cheaper than the
overpaid big leaguers.

I have been to Diablos games as well, and they appeard to be doing just
fine, however, attendance has been dropping, and the owners apparently
have been looking to sell, the Cardinals bought the team and will move them
to Springfield, MO. which built a super nice stadium a few years ago,
