The Padres signed Tony Clark primarily to be their #1 pinch-hitter
this year. In that capacity, he is doing just fine...

AB H Walks RBI BA OBA

Clark has had an impact on some key Padres games so far this year.

* APRIL 11th at Dodgers
Tony singled for Joe Thatcher in the 8th , Calix Crabbe
ran for him and scored in a 2-run rally. Padres win 7-5.

* MARCH 31 home vs. Astros
Clark singled home Khalil Green in the 7th inning to
back Jake Peavy's shutout. Padres win it 4-0

* MAY 28 at Washington
Clark hits for Mike Adams and doubled home Luke
Carlin, then scored on Hairston's single during a
3-run rally in the 7th. Nats win 6-4

* MAY 29 at Washington
Clark walked during the 3-run 8th-inning rally which
won this game 5 to 2.

* JUNE 3 home vs. Cubs
Clark drew a bases-loaded walk in the 8th, scoring
Kouzmanoff as part of 3-run rally, but Cubs win 9-6.

I'm sure Tony would like to play every day, but with Adrian Gonzalez
at 1st base that is not an option. At $ 0.9 million, he was a good
role-player signing by KT.

You mean Padre good....which is good for the money.

A little dated but still interesting history of the pinch hitter.

Have you got room for another entry on this list?

* JUNE 8 at home vs. Mets
Clark hits dramatic 3-run homer off Billy Wagner
giving the Pads a come-from-behind 8-6 win.
The ball travels 414 feet.

OK?
