Padres 4, Dodgers 2

Center fielder Mark Kotsay goes 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and right fielder Xavier
Nady has a solo home run to lead the Padres past the Dodgers, 4-2. Pinch
hitter Lou Merloni also "drives" in a run with a sacrifice bunt in the
bottom of the 8th inning.

Starter Clay Condrey (1-1) goes 5 innings, giving up 1 earned run, striking
out 2, and walking 3 to pick up win. Brandon Villafuerte pitches a
scoreless 9th inning to pick up his first save of the season.

First baseman Fred McGriff is the Dodgers' offensive star with a solo home
run. Starting pitcher Darren Dreifort (0-1) strikes out six, but gives up 3
earned runs and 3 walks in 6 innings to take the loss.

Attendance: 23,820
