Today in Padre History

June 6, 1986



Padres 3, Braves 2 (11 innings)



Center fielder Marvell Wynne drives in second baseman Bip Roberts with the
winning run to lead San Diego past Atlanta, 3-2 in 11 innings. Roberts has
3 hits and scores all 3 runs for the Padres. Starting pitcher Andy Hawkins
pitches 6-1/3 innings, giving up both Atlanta runs, and reliever Gene Walter
(2-1) gets the win by holding the Braves scoreless in the 10th and 11th
innings.



Atlanta starter David Palmer throws 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs.
Reliever Jeff Dedmon (2-2) takes the loss after pitching 4 innings and
giving up the winning run. Left fielder Gerald Perry goes 3 for 3, and
catcher Ozzie Virgil has a solo home run for the Braves.



Padre record and standing: 26-27, 4th place, 3.5 games behind Houston.



At: Jack Murphy Stadium

Attendance: 19,224
