Thanks for posting these. I've been enjoying playing a little game
with them - I scroll down past the date, and then try to guess the
year based on the players involved. Anyway, I think this one has to
be from 2005, Nevin was gone by 2006.

You are right, it was May 31, 2005.

This game finished off the best Month in Padre history. They were
22-6 in May 2005, including 11 straight home wins.

Phil Nevin recorded the 1,000 hit of his ML career that day, and
did it with a rare triple, on a ball that hit off the top of the CF
fence at Petco.

Thanks to Komet 17 for the great work. It is appreciated !

You're welcome--it's fun to stroll down memory lane with them; it's hard to
believe it's the team's 40th year this year--we can actually say that the
team has a "history." What's harder to believe is that I've followed them
all 40 years, starting as a 3rd grader growing up in Birdland (that's a
little neighborhood sandwiched in between Linda Vista and Serra Mesa).

I just looked that up on Googlemaps. I've been here for 27 years and
had no idea there was such a place.
