Just some food for thought on Timlin.
He has shown great longevity as a pitcher
and a cool head in key pitching situations
over his long career,he is 13th in all time
appearances as a pitcher.
That is a pretty heady stat considering
the number of pitchers who have played
in the majors over it's history.
Like many at the time I was not sad to
see him depart from Toronto,especially
for the highly touted Cruz Jr.But he
sure did not live up to his billing in a Jays
uni.(Cruz)
I have always thought he was a risk in
crucial game situations, but he has sure
proved me wrong over the years and
now has his third ws ring to boot.
He may not have ever been the closer
extordinare but he has proved to be one
of the steadiest set up men in the game
and especially in post season play.
Timlin is just one in a long line of players
the Jays brain trust has given up on for
various reasons over the years.
But the trade for Cruz looked to be a
great deal at the time, and was not
under the fumbling watch of Jp.who
continues to show an ever lengthening
list of bad ideas and trades. His so
called five year plan has been pretty
much a disaster looking for a place
to happen and the future looks just
as dismal.
Jp has left more holes to fill than any
of his predecessors combined,and has
decimated a once great farm system and
scouting team for his money ball stats
selections who continue to wallow in
mediocrity.
As does the team on a whole.
It was even hard to take watching one
of jp's prize winning debacles Eric Hinske
cavort around after Bostons world series
win the other night.
Who should have been dealt far sooner
than his fluke of a rookie year season
ever indicated,because he soon should
his true talent was highly over rated, but
ends up on a ws winner anyway.
And the Jays as per usual got nothing
for him in the end.
