Ok, I am happy about Hernandez being gone (pitching coach). And buying out
Renteria after this season makes sense, cut our loses, maybe get him
cheaper, but not the 12mil.

But why the hell do they announce already that Inge is their starting 3rd
baseman and Guillen is our left fielder now? I think Inge is very good
defensivly but at the plate, he just can't hit. I think it is around .205
this year? Even if next spring he ends up to be their best choice, why
announce it now? And what does Thames have to do to get a starting job?

Ok, I will leave this at this for now.

BTW, go Tigers today, working on a possible upset.

Inge can't hit, that's a given. But the Tigers have a history of weak
hitting, strong defensive 3rd basemen. Hence moving Inge to 3rd makes
more sense then leaving him as a catcher.

I don't think left field is the best place for a guy with a bad back,
i.e. Carlos Guillen. However, you need to get his bat in the everyday
line-up, you need to shore up the infield defense, you've got
Sheffield as your DH and Thames to backup Guillen. And after seeing
Thames muff too many balls in left field this past season, I can see
why they don't want him out there full time again.

With Renteria not being resigned, Tigers will need to find a Short
Stop. I suppose they could go with Santiago. Santiago did have a
..282 BA in 58 games this past season and he is only 28. No current
short stop who will be a free agent at the end of this season are that
young. Felipe Lopez (St. Louis/Washington) is the closet at 29 and he
also plays 2nd and outfield.

In addition to a shortstop they obviously need to shore up the
pitching staff, starters, middle relief and a closer.
