The Angels are looking for payroll flexibility to either deal for ARod or sign
Tejada. They've also talked about shipping Glaus to Texas in exchange for
ARod. Then there's this wacky three team rumor out there about ARod for Nomar
for Eckstein and pitching. Well, let me try one:

How about Munson, Cornejo, and one of our pitching kids in the minors (Baugh
for instance) for Glaus and Eckstein, which would help free up payroll for
Anaheim to go after Tejada or the SS from Japan (Matsui or Suzuki?), fix our SS
problem and add a ready RH bat to the lineup. Seem realistic or I am just
reaching?

I think you're just reaching but that's okay, always healthy to dream.

I think you could get Eckstein fairly cheap, but I'd not give up pitching or
anything you really want to get him. I think he'd be better at 2d. If you
want to dream, have the Tigers put in a bid for Kaz Matsui and solve your SS
problem for a good while.

Just as I sent that post, a thought came to mind.... dreaming is exactly
what the hot stove is all about. Everybody does it, even GM's do. I'm sure
DD is right now coming up with all sorts of these type of scenerios, some
completely impossible, some not. Can't get anything if ya don't dream and
reach for what is thought as the unreachable.

Jeremy Bonderman is the future ace of the Tigers, he should be untouchable.

He hasn't showed Ace stuff yet and the highway to stardom is littered
with kids who were brought to the majors too quickly and ruined in the
process. Does the name David Clyde ring a bell. Brought up to the bigs
at age 18 with a 98 mph fastball he was touted as the next Cy Young . A
couple of years later he was gone never to be seen again. No player
should be untouchable, especially when you've had a year like the
Bengals have. If you can get an everyday player or two who might make a
significant difference you should probably do it. The Angels might even
make that deal and throw in a veteran pitcher like Aaron Sele to sweeten
the pot.

One year does not a flop make. You have given up way too soon on Bonderman,
and David Clyde was 30 years ago. He is untouchable no matter what you say
or believe. He's probably one of the few players on this team that has no
chance of being traded any time soon.

David Clyde, the local kid, was also brought up to sell tickets, as the Rangers
didn't draw very well back then.

If you've watched a good amount of the games that Bonderman had pitched, you
would have noticed flashes of being a very, very good pitcher. As with most
young players, he wasn't able to keep that up at a consistant pace. Not all
good players come up to the bigs and slaughter thier opponents right away
(Willie Mays was damn near traumatized by his lack of success at first). But
that consistancy is something that they develop with experience.

But the difference is that the Tigers are one of the worst
teams in the history of baseball, and they need to add
several average starting players to compete. Its a shame to
have to give up potential talent to attain that status. On
the other hand, Bonderman may not impress the other general
managers to that extent.
