Well I assume a trade like that would cost two among Ellsbury,
Buchholz and Lester so I don't think they'll go for it. However,
considering the fact that the Sox have the best pitching staff in
baseball, the lineup would be formidable for the postseason.
Youk/Pedroia/Ortiz/Manny/Teixeira/Lowell/Drew/Varitek/Lugo would be
awfully tough for any postseason starter to get through three times
without some damage. And the Sox have enjoyed an outstanding bullpen
which is a key to postseason success. Sherman is right in his
assessment as it'd be very difficult to pitch around Manny with
Teixeira in what becomes L-R-L-R-L heart of the order with two guys
who'd get on base a lot. >> Stay informed about: Teixeira would make Boston a super team? |

I don't see the Sox putting the package together it would take to get
him. Texas is very wary of selling him too cheaply, given the number
of mistakes they have made in the last few years. The Sox have the
talent to acquire him, but I don't think Theo will part with it. >> Stay informed about: Teixeira would make Boston a super team? |

But where do all the guys play? Teixeira is a 1B. Youk can play 1st or
3rd. Lowell is at 3rd. Papi DHs. How do you get them all in the same
lineup?

I don't see Teixeira making much of a difference to the Red Sox lineup.
Not enough to give up young pitching.

And with the way Crisp has been hitting of late, that does not hurt them
at all. Still, that is replacing Lowell with Teixeira. A significant
offensive upgrade, though somehow Lowell has seemed to resurrect his
career in Boston. It is not as big an upgrade as some may think. I am
wondering what it would do defensively.
Dave.

LOL...actually one of the Polliest Pollies. I just don't think much of
big cornbread fed crackers hitting under .300 and on course for a
whopping 90 RBI's. Of course he was on the DL for a month...which is
another selling point.
I wouldn't sit either Youk or Lowell for him. Yes he'd be an
upgrade....assuming he's recovered form his injury, but he's not worth
the prospects. >> Stay informed about: Teixeira would make Boston a super team? |

In the unlikely even they acquired Teixeira, they'd deal Lowell who is
looking for a multi-year deal in the offseason. >> Stay informed about: Teixeira would make Boston a super team? |

Where would he play? The Sox already have a pretty good 1B, who
