Now 7 games out. And the offense is looking awful.

So, less than a month until the trade deadline. Who's in contention and
needs a 1B, assuming that the Braves don't think they can keep Tex?
Tampa Bay (Carlos Pena 223/335/415)
White Sox (Paul Konerko 215/322/368 and on the DL)
LAA Angels might use a DH (Gary Mathews 239/317/360)
Oakland (Daric Barton 226/326/319, but unlikely to trade prospects)
LAD - They desperately need some slugging. Loney has hit well at 1B; he
played some OF in the minors so he could maybe be moved there in a pinch,
but I don't think that's likely.

Too bad Baltimore, for which he has some preference, isn't closer in their
division, and they know they can just wait and maybe get him for cash in the
offseason. St Louis could be a possibility if Pujols were to go on the DL.
Not sure of the status of Ortiz in Boston.

Also, if the Braves don't thhink they can bring back Mike Gonzalez, he
likely has some trade value

His wrist feels weak (not surprisingly after being immobilized) and
it still hurts, but not as bad as it did before. He may be out until
August.

Clayton Kershaw or Clay Bucholz would get it done.
