First, Lankford was not horrible at the end of his career. More to
the point, he wasn't horrible when Jocketty ran him out of town in
August 2001 -- he had a 114 OPS+ at the time.
Secondly, what does a player being "horrible" have to do with how an
organization should properly treat a longtime contributor?
