That said, it's probably sweeter for him, though. When you get forced off a
team, going to their rival and doing well is about the best revenge
possible.

As much as I hate to see the Cubs do well, I think the Cardinals are getting
some just desserts for how they've treated some of their other long time
players (like Ozzie Smith or Ray Lankford, similarly discarded).

Wrong. He had a respectable 2004 season, going out in style, helping
the Cardinals win the division with their best record in decades. He
had a good OBP. He hit a home run in his final at bat, one of my
favorite baseball moments ever.

Annoying, like Kurt Warner doing well against the Rams for Arizona.

Didn't see the game, but heard Edmonds misbehaved when he hit the
first home run. Instead of running the bases, he stared into the
Cardinal dugout and flipped his bat. Being a dishonest coward,
Edmonds later said he flipped the bat because there was too much pine
tar on it. Hey Jimmy, grow a pair and admit you flipped the bat
because you don't get along with LaRussa and the Cardinal organization
(I'm giving Edmonds the benefit of the doubt he wasn't directing the
gestures towards the players). LaRussa took the high road and didn't
comment. He also apparently didn't order Cardinal pitchers to throw
close pitches at Edmonds in retaliation for the bat-flipping and
staring.

Too bad the Cardinals didn't use the staring and bat-flipping as
motivation to get fired up and defeat the Cubbies (though all
indications are the Cardinals played well in the game).

Edmonds committed an error in the game. Ha-ha!

Apparently Edmonds cursed out all St. Louis TV and radio media,
denying interviews. Considering how most STL media have been overly
kind to Edmonds over the years, this seems like a bad move by
Edmonds. Bernie Miklasz commented about Edmonds the first time he
returned to St. Louis as a Cub, but Bernie's criticism was with
disloyal Cardinal fans who sided with Edmonds over the Cardinals;
Bernie didn't bash Edmonds.

Edmonds is a streak hitter in a good streak now, but he'll probably
have some bad streaks soon, perhaps dooming the Cubs in the
postseason.

I'd like to fight Jimmy right now, but I can't stand the theme to
"Rocky"...which he'd probably be humming as we did battle.

That, and he'd likely provide sound effects for each blow tossed...and
make overly-dramatic "Matrix"-style recoil movements when struck.

So consider yourself lucky, Hollywood.

You guys were due to beat Carlos. I think he regularly loses 1 game

How did he get forced out?

TLR: We'd love to have you stay, Jimmy, but I can't guarantee that
you'd be an everyday player.

J-Ed: I think that I can still play everyday, skip. Can y'all trade
me to a California team where I'm from and where my kid lives?

And so they traded him to San Diego to give him that chance. And he
flopped so badly that the lowly Padres released him. And now, he's
with the Cubs proving that he still has something left, but also
proving that TLR was right -- he's not an everyday player any more and
needs to have regular rests and needs to be benched against LHP.
