Should have gone with the odds. There are MANY major league-caliber
outfielders out there. Finding a good, solid everyday third-baseman is
obviously more of a challenge. That's why A-rod made a switch. Think
about it...push aside the David Wrights and the other single-year
stars. Who has consistently contributed at third base?
A-rod
Glaus
Hank Blalock
Scott Rolen
Chipper Jones
Beyond that, you have Chad Crede, Garret Atkins, Morgan Ensberg, and
Chad Tracy who are proving to be the next-gen, but that gives us nine
good third-basemen to spread among 30 teams. Sure, MacPherson looked
like the real deal for a short while, but to put the kind of pressure
the Angels did on him to excel...
