I know its just Spring Training, but the Nats have put together an
awesome week. I think they're won 5 in a row. Wilson, Zimmerman, and
Cast are tearing it up. Even Logan tripled and went 2-4.

I'm glad you said that. As it gets closer to the start of the season and as
the teams begin to resemble more closely what will be fielded then; the
Nationals look like they are shaping up to be a fairly decent team. I don't
consider them to be pennant contenders at this time, but I certainly think
that they'll be competitive.

It beats losing - reminds me of the old Senators who would win 5 in a row at
Pampano and then take 3 weeks to win 5 games when the season started. Zim
is indeed tearing things up - no other way to describe it. Hard to imagine
him getting 100 RBIs again this season if they hit Logan and Guzeeg in front
of him. Logan must have the ugliest swing that we have seen since Willie
McGee was in uniform. Somehow McGee could put up reasonable numbers. I
don't see Logan doing that - especially from the left side where he can look
really ugly and will hit most of the time. Anybody who watched Guzegg,
maybe "experienced" Guzeeg is a better way to put it, two years ago knows
that it's time to "show cards" for him - and we will believe it when we see
it for two or three months - after the season begins. The solution - find a
"2" hitter, lead off with Lopez, and bat Guzegg and Logan 7th and 8th - if
they must play. A better solution is have them ride the pines.

Same here. Glad to see Korey Casto is getting a spot in the OF. He's
going to be great.

As I was driving home from work last night, Washington Post radio played a
soundbite from Manny Acta. He continues to maintain that the team is going
to surprise a lot of people. He also alluded to the fact that a number of
(unspecified) people are beginning to come around to his point of view that
the team is developing into a solid entity.

One week more to go and tonights game is televised on MASN. Very Happy

I don't know if you've ever talked to Manny, but if baseball doesn't
work out for him, he could make a living as a motivational speaker. The
NL East is weaker than it was last year. The Nats could end up anywhere
from 2nd to 5th. Phillies should finish 1st. Marlins got worse. Mets
are missing Pedro and those old arms are another year older. Nats and
Braves are a question mark. 85 games could win the NL East. I believe
the Nats can win 75 games.
