WASHINGTON - There's a new member of the 40-40 club: Alfonso Soriano.
Soriano became the fourth player in major league history to record 40 home
runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season when he swiped second Saturday
night for Washington in the first inning against Milwaukee.

That gave Soriano 40 steals to go along with 45 home runs.

A quality offensive player when he feels motivated, but an absolute disaster
defensively as infielder, which he isn't anymore because the Nationals had
the hammer over him and showed signs of eating his salary if that was what
it took to get him into the outfield. For the position he played with the
Rangers, I wouldn't think twice about trading Soriano for Ian Kinsler
straight-up if there salaries where comparable and that's not the case in
the slightest. Kinsler was a dramatic upgrade defensively and putting up
good numbers offensively for a rookie despite early injury set-backs.
Kinsler should only get better for years to come.

Nice numbers for Soriano, but this season would only have been more
disappointing earlier if the Rangers hadn't dealt him. He is not missed in
these parts.

A great accomplishment. Still, glad he's no longer a Ranger.
