According to the print media, Lou is hinting that when Lee returns, Theriot
will bat lead-off and Soriano will bat in the two hole.

Does that make sense to the rest of you? Don't you want one of your best
contact hitters in the second postion of the batting order? If you're going
to move Soriano out of lead-off, why not number 5?

Hey! Who's managing the team? You or Lou?

The rationale for having a contact hitter batting second is that you
can hit and run if the leadoff man gets on. I agree with Earl Weaver
that the hit and run is the worse play in baseball. If you're not
going to hit and run, having a contact hitter in the second spot is
irrelevant.

The advantage of having Soriano bat first or second, rather than
fifth, is that he gets more plate appearances. You want your best
hitters getting the most chances to hit.

I just thought a discussion of current Cubs' issues might be a little more
appropriate for this newsgroup than imaginary line-ups of dead Cubs and
music I happen to like.
