One thing I have noticed about Richie Sexson
is in certain KEY situations he is very dangerous to opposing teams. In
several games this season, they have walked batters on base just so they
could pitch to Sexson, ostensibly because they base their decision on the
fact that he does not have a great batting average or on base
percentage. However, when they load the bases and he comes up to bat he
just about "licks his chops" when he sees this situation......even when
there are only two runners on base he is dangerous. One bad pitch, and
BOOM! it is over the fence. It is just a
hunch on my part, but I don't think teams will load the bases anymore
when he comes up to bat. They will probably just elect to pitch to him
with just one runner on base from now on.
His ability to hit is reduced when only one runner or none are present
when he comes up to bat.Just an observation on my part. You can't
just go by the numbers only.
