Last night was the the third time in four games this year that the Cards
have scored six or more runs against the Tigers. This could easily happen
again.
It's the Tiger bats that let them down, with a lot of help from Reyes.
He retired 17 in a row, at least, which reminded me of Gibson fanning 17 in
the first game in 68. Strike outs are different, of course.
Btw, Pujols got a homer the first time they faced Verlander, although he did
it that time against Todd Jones.

I think I was nine years old when I came to that conclusion.
There are very few very good and unbiased sports writers.
The worst was Jerome Holtzman who Commissioner Kevorkian
appointed the Official Historian of Major League Baseball
in 1999. He is as much an historian as is my 15 year old
son.
Gene "Two Finger" Carney does a beautiful job of slicing
and dicing Holtzman in his terrific book "Burying the
Black Sox: How Baseball's Cover-Up of the 1919 World
Series Fix Almost Succeeded." I particularly like the
part where Holtzman discredits a book after acknowledging
that he hadn't read it.
