Hoping to go to a day game next week. I've heard there are some quirks
in the seating layout at RFK.

We'd prefer to sit at terrace level rather than field, away from the
sections behind home plate and with no risk of being in the sun.
Grateful for any advice.

The heading says out-of -towner; in fact we are from the UK. Thought I
should apologise for all the MI5/MI6 drivel that is reaching your
group from my country

Yup, some of those terrace level seats are blocked by the corporate
boxes. (The M level).

Here is the seating chart. Not sure if your definition of terrace seat
is the same as the RFK's definition.
http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/was/ballpark/seating_pricing.jsp

From the chart, the Terrace seats from 312-317 really stink. You can
only see a portion of the field. So, you probably want the 300 seats
down the baselines. Hopefully someone here can tell you about those seats.

IMO unless you have 100 or 200 section seats, you are better off in the
400s. I sit in the 400s (behind the plate) and find them to be great
seats. I'd advise being at least 3 rows back so the old-school railings
aren't in your way.

As for the sun, avoid the outfield during day games.

That's what filters are for.

Good luck.

**and avoid anything along 3rd base, from the dugout onward during day
games. 1st base, and anything between the dugouts, should be shaded by
mid-game during the day at this time of year, even in the 100s.
