So sayeth Pete Van Wieren. Hampton had a strong outing tonight, and went
deep in the game, so Id expect him to be traded in the next few days for a
token prospeect and a few million in payroll savings for Atlanta.

And the best part is that if he has a great september, some team will then
sign him to a stupid contract. See Wright, Jaret.

And in related news, the Braves signed Elmer Dessens; I would imagine he'll
take Hampton's place in the rotation.

First, let's hope that that team is not Atlanta. Maybe the Yankees,
Mets, Cubs, or Dodgers in an ideal world. Second, I think Jaret Wright
did a lot more than play one good month.

stupid.

As a Mets fan, BTDT. In any case, I can't see him going to the bullpen,
which is where the Mets' greatest need is.

But Hampton's greatest season was as a Met wasn't it?

It depends on the school system.

First Rodrigo Lopez, now Elmer Dessens, is there any doubt that Woody
Williams is on the horizon?

But really, if the Braves can get even a token prospect for Hampton,
make that trade. He won't be bringing back draft picks this year so
get whatever they can.
