At the beginning of this season, a few of us were engaging in
'schadenfreude' over the Tigers terrible start, and thinking that
it might be all we would have as Twins fans this season.

Well, as fun as it is to still enjoy the pain and suffering of teams
like the Yankees, Tigers, and to some extent the Red Sox (although,
I actually enjoy watching the Red Sox play)....the Twins have
given us more to enjoy this season instead of just the suffering
of other teams.

"Schadenfreude" is defined as "the largely unanticipated delight
in the suffering of another". Well, I think our enjoyment of the
Twins this season, and how well they are playing, is definitely
another "largely unanticipated delight". I will certainly take it
while it lasts. Wink

Schadenfreude is only good for when your team sucks or is out of the
playoffs. Twins are neither at this point so why would Twins fans need to
obsess over the failures of other teams?

Let's enjoy beating the Tigers for the real reason it's important: it keeps
Minnesota ahead of them in the standings and only 2.5 games back of the
division lead.

Schadenfreude is always good when it comes to division rivals
like the ChiSox or Tigers....or in regard to failures of the 'evil
empire' of the Yankees, IMO.

True....very true.

I think that was mostly just you. I was glad the Tigers and Indians
were struggling only because I thought it enhanced the chances of the
Twins competing late into the season.

Nope, there were others.

I specifically remember someone else here bringing up the
schadenfreude thing.

Yes, and it still does.
