I think this game shows what kind of pitcher Johan is.

It seemed to be a very difficult game for him. He could not hit his
spots with his fastball at all and yet he pitched 7 innings and only
gave up three runs. Most pitchers would not have lated through 4
innings.

I was wondering if the continual blown saves have taken their toll. He
may be trying to overanalyze, or to economize on pitches to stay in
the game longer, or to be too precise. One thing for sure, he's got
to be kicking himself every time he makes a bad pitch, knowing that
any one mistake could spell the difference in the game. Can't be fun.

I also think that he is still getting used to haveing to bat several
times a game. It seems to me that most of the time he gives up a home
run or even walks the first batter in an inning is right after he had
an at-bat just before.

If I am right, it sure makes more sense when Maneul pinch hit for him
in the top of the 8th.
