I don't know what Mets fans are thinking about Johan so far. He is
3-2 with a 3.12 ERA, which is fine, I guess. As we know, he generally
gets better as the season progresses. He has 39 K's and 8 walks in
40 IP. None of this is very surprising. I don't follow the Mets, so
I don't know why a guy with a 3.12 ERA has a 3-2 record. It seems
they lack offense, at least when Santana is pitching. That may be OK,
because he is pulling his own weigh offensively. I mean we knew he
could hit the ball, but he has better numbers than some "hitters" the
Twins are puttting on the field every day.
Johan's BA/OBP/SLG: .267/.313/.467. In 15 AB, he has 4 hits, 3 of
which are doubles. He also walked once. Maybe he does belong in the
National League.

It was fun watching him pitch against Tim Redding (Washington) the
other day. Johan had two doubles and Tim had one. Tim got two RBI's
with his double and that was the only RBI's for Washington that day.
Tim and Johan were roommates part of the year when they played for the
Battle Cats.
I am surprised that Johan is not a better bunter than he has been so
far. I have not seen him execute a succesfull sac bunt yet and he has
had three or four at bats when he needed to.
He has realy only had one bad game and that was against the Brewers.
If I remember right, he had a couple of starts against the Brewers
when he was a Twin and they always hit him pretty good.

That's a nice bonus for the Mets--a stud pitcher that can also hit.
I did notice that Santana gave up 2 runs in his latest start. Both
were solo HRs. So apparently that part of his game isn't improving. >> Stay informed about: Santana the Slugger |

Until his hitting stats are on a par with a pitcher like Rick Ankiel
I refuse to get too excited.
