How bad are things going for the Padres?

Sandy Alderson did not sneer once today in his long
conversation with Bill Werndl on am-1090.

Usually you can hear the CEO turn over his egg-timer
every 2 minutes, and politely tell Werndl how dumb
he and everybody else is.

Not today. Alderson sounded like he was "all in" at
the Poker table, and the opponent had just drawn a
3rd ace.

Impressions: Jim Edmunds was viewed as roadkill,
and Jody Gerut will be summoned from Portland
before Chase Headley is.

Didnt hear the interview. If I need a sports station, I listen to Xtra
1360. I only listen to 1090 when a game is on. Can't stand them the
rest of the time. Union Tribune says the same thing about Edmonds. If
he lasts the weekend, I'd be surprised. Gerut seems to be the likely
call-up.

I think I've beaten that horse to death at least twice, and it keeps making
more sense the more time that goes by. He makes us immediately better in the
lineup and in the field, we just cut our freaking center fielder, and he's
instant attendance because of what his name is
