Yeah.....that Greg Maddux is a wimp! I imagine he is gonna walk Bonds
as much as possible, so he will not become Barry's 755th (and possibly
756th) victim as well.
Maddux used to be one of the ace playas in Atlanta, but the Braves
finally saw the light and gave him his walking papers, not matter WHAT
anyone would tell you!
All this walking of Bonds is bullshit anyway. You pitchers in Major
League Baseball don't be wimps, and PITCH TO HIM!
ROTFLMAOHYA!
HYA? Hysterically, yet again.....why, of course.......lol >> Stay informed about: San Diego Padres pitcher Greg Maddux needs to not be a wim.. |

We're always hearing about how Maddux might be the smartest pitcher
ever. If the smartest pitcher ever was actually planning to pitch
around Bonds all game long, I don't think he would announce it to the
world beforehand. My guess is that he just wanted to plant that seed
in Bonds' giant head, and will pitch to Bonds the way he always has. >> Stay informed about: San Diego Padres pitcher Greg Maddux needs to not be a wim.. |

It's not really Greg's decision, is it? The sound bite I heard on the
radio was of Bud Black saying that if it was prudent, he would have
Greg or whoever in the series walk Bonds because winning the game is
more important then helping Barry get a record.
Here's a nice little article with Greg's views on the subject from USA
Today.

Who cares about Bonds record? Pitch to win the game. The Padres are in a
pennant race while the Giants are just waiting to get this whole thing over
with. Home run, schmome run. It's still a team game and I don't think a
winner like Maddox gives a rat's ass about some spoiled kid's home run
record. Bonds is not a team player and never has been.

It's Black's decision whether to intentionally walk him, but, as long
as they're pitching to him, Maddux has a big say in how they pitch to
him. I think everybody, Bonds included, was expecting the old "semi-
intentional" walk in the first inning. Maddux had him right where he
wanted him. >> Stay informed about: San Diego Padres pitcher Greg Maddux needs to not be a wim.. |

Point 1: Whether or not to pitch to any team's most dangerous hitter is
always, repeat, ALWAYS dependent on the game situation at the time. That
holds true whether it's Bonds, A-Rod, Ryan Howard, or Adrian Gonzalez.
Point 2: "Wimp" Maddux pitched to Balco Barry and hung a nifty 0-4 collar on
him, two groundouts, one lazy fly ball, and a crowd-rousing K in the 1st
inning with a speedy runner in scoring position and 1B open.
Barry managed to get one ball out of the infield all night.
Point 3: (referring back to the principle stated in point 1) Any time any
team's big-time slugger comes to the plate late in the game with runners in
scoring position, 1 or 2 outs, and 1B open, only a damned fool would pitch
to him rather than take the chances with the guy behind him, or set up the
possible double play. That's called smart baseball. >> Stay informed about: San Diego Padres pitcher Greg Maddux needs to not be a wim.. |

One possible reason Maddux chose to pitch to Baaaaaarryyyyyy...
Over the past 4 years (including Friday night's game) Bonds is 0-12 with one
BB and 1 RBI against Maddux.
Over the course of his career, Bonds is hitting .268 against "The
Professor"... I believe that's somewhat below his norm.
It seems Mr. Maddux holds a title deed on Mr. Bonds. Owns him lock, stock,
and barrel. >> Stay informed about: San Diego Padres pitcher Greg Maddux needs to not be a wim.. |

Sorry, Solnichka, but that is yet STRIKE ONE on you. I come to you
from yahoo, via Google.
And, as evidenced by your lack of reading comprehension, I must
educate/edify/enlighten you with my cogent/prolific/insightful (and
sometimes inciteful as well, as it appears this one might well be to
you) observations....
quite like my original post and assertions.
oh...and welcome to america, Solnichka.....now.....learn to speak,
read, write AND comprehend English, or take a boat with a small leak
it in back to where you came from - mother Russia, if my guess would
be correct!

Errrr...Brian...you can't be THAT much of an idiot, now can you? Why
of COURSE Barry has been tested......those white slave-masters in the
MLB front office are trying to 'get to him' in ANY which way they can
- even enlisting the help of the federal law dawgs and Barry's 'former
friends' to try to get to him any which way.
Boy, you are an IDIOT! But we have well have come to expect that from
all the losers at 'rcn.com'. Your ignorance has even added more 'logs
to the fire'.....
ROTFLMAOHYA!
