Hello, Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Goodbye, Mark Redman, at least for a
little while.

Saltalamacchia, the organization's top minor league prospect, was
activated today from Class AA Mississippi and will start tonight at
catcher and bat seventh in the Braves' lineup against the Philadelphia
Phillies.

Backup catcher Brayan Pena was placed on the 15-day disabled list with
concussion symptoms after being hit in the head by a bat in Tuesday
night's game.

Redman, the lefthander whose ERA rose to 10.62 after Tuesday's poor
outing, will have surgery on his left big toe. Kevin Barry was
recalled from Class AAA Richmond to fill Redman's roster spot. No
decision has been made yet on who will take Redman's place in the
rotation.
