As a fan from Day One, and one who basically wrote off the team in
1995, I stil feel saddened that the end is finally here.

Over the last half-dozen years, I actually hoped that the team would
leave Montreal (as I did in 1979). But my reasons had little to do
with baseball.

Having lived in Toronto since then, I watched the Expos' fortunes very
closely and between 1979 and 1994. I attended over 200 games in NL
cities around the US.

I was depressed beyond belief when the Blue Jays won their two World
Series in the early 90's. I couldn't accept the fact that that team
would celebrate a world championship before the Expos would. So if
Toronto eventually loses the Blue Jays, fans here will at least be
able to say that for two years they had the best team in the world. 35
years in Montreal with little to show for it. Yes, there are some
incredible memories of Nos Amours, but no rings, no parades and no
boasting.

It's sad.

Roberta

P.S. It has been entertaining and enlightening to talk to the many
longtime posters to this newsgroup. From the Buffalo contingent to the
boys from SC, it's been a gas. Take care and may you find happiness
with the more important things in life.

I don't think its the end of Baseball in Montreal
My guess is the Northeast league ACES.........formerly the Allentown
Ambassadors move to montreal for 2005

Thanks Roberta. It's always been enlightening to speak with you too.

I'm at the Big O tonight, with a heavy heart. But I think I'll be OK
after the playoffs. We've had three extra seasons since the
contraction threat and I've enjoyed and embraced every one of them.
I've done most of my mourning alrady. Tonight I'm going to sit at the
Stade for what is likely the final time and enjoy the perfect game in
the perfect city.

John (still holding out some hope for a RICO win)

You know, I tried that, but the pesky roof got in the way. Smile

Actually, I went up there today for the first time in two years. I had
forgotten how spectacular the view was.
