And I said it is my right to post, despite his theory that you can
only post if you like what the A's do. This is an A's group and I've
voiced an opinion abuot the A's. Get it?

No, I didn't conveniently leave out anything. I just don't think this
is a slam dunk trade for the A's, or a "steal of a deal" to use the
phrase I was responding to in my post. I am under no obligation to
list every success and failure in the trade column when I merely point
out I prefer proven talent to speculative talent. Your knee-jerk
reaction was a little over-the-top and Shooty-like.

Only time will tell if this trade is "a steal" or not ... right now,
I'm not liking it, nor do I think it's a "steal of a deal" for the
A's. I think it sucks on the surface, and while I trust Beane's
instincts more than someone like yours, I also think this deal is a
"steal" for the White Sox considering what they're trying to do in
2008. The A's? They already quit on 2008. This is about 2009 and
beyond for the A's, and as I said, only time will tell, so rushing to
judgment now is not prudent.

Irrelevant and "specious", to use your poor choice of adjective.

I think the only "slam dunk" we can be assured of is that the A's will
trade these prospects to other teams when they become good. Then the
people here praising these trades will be telling us how great those
trades are and the cycle continues.

ThisPlanetSux is right. There's no point in paying ballplayers more
than the A's owners are requiired to pay by existing obligations, and
those being paid more than the minimum should be released or traded
ASAP. Replacements are a dime a dozen. Many post-adolescents would
love the perks of ballplayers and would gladly play for the minimum
wage. If ballplayers don't like it they can go back to pumping gas or
mowing lawns or bagging groceries.
No more making nice with the Players Association. Sign no more Basic
Agreements. Lock them out. Let them sweat until they renounce their
communist union masters and slink back to minimum-wage jobs.
The current crop of millionaire crybabies won't play when there's a
little rain cloud overhead and don't even play hard enough to get
hurt, which is why football and NASCAR contests are much more fun to
watch.
When I go to a ballgame I root for the team whose owner pays the least
in salaries. So this year I'll be back with the A's, no doubt, and
lurk here and occasionally post. GO A'S!

Well, at least I agree with the first sentence and the last
sentence...
