At least the Angels aren't on the cover for the Cover Jinx (The Bosox's
Dice Man gets that), but SI has picked the Angels to win the World Series.

Is this equivalent to the cover jinx?

Made a similar comment in the Dodgers group. Seems that at the same
time the mag was released, Chone Figgins broke his middle finger and
both Jason Repko & Rafael Furcal put themselves out of service. Of
course, I have a hard time buying EITHER team making the post-season,
let alone going that deep.

Of course, if either team fails to reach the Fall Classic, we can less
blame the SI Jinx and more the reliance of both on the rotation.
Neither have a line-up that really strikes fear in anybody. Vlad
isn't going to see many good pitches with Shea Hillenbrand batting
behind him and he's not really known for holding off on those bad
pitches. At least he should be healthy the entire year, unlike Kent
and Garciaparra. Napoli and Martin both looked like future all-stars,
but have a sophomore slump to avoid. As for the other youth, Kotch
will have to overcome last year's disappointing '06 and Andre Ethier
may have to overcome inflated expectations after his solid debut.
Both bullpens showed some uncharacteristic cracks last year.

Most prognosticators seem to be in love with these two squads though
and they get paid for what they do. They must see something I don't.
