Looking at you, who got your knickers all knotted up over *hospital
ads*. Retard.

No, but he may or may not have been on that following his heart
attack a few years ago. The medication he's most likely been prescribed
for this issue is verapamil or or one of the dihydroyridine CCBs
(e.g., nicardipine, lacidipine, etc.).

That probably had nothing to do with this recent issue. He said
he's not been on any medication for his heart since his angioplasty,
leading me to believe he doesn't have a cholesterol issue that would
require him to abstain from beef or to take a statin (like Zetia). You
buffoon.

First, Ryan had angioplasty (which involves using a ballon to re-open a
constricted vein or artery and install a stent to keep it opened), not
bypass (which involves rerouting blood flow around clogged or narrowed
arteries). Second, not all arterial restriction is caused by high serum
cholesterol. Many heart attacks -- half or more -- involve patients
whose arteries weren't previously narrowed or hardened; these attacks
occur due to inflammation response (clotting) which *acutely* blocks
arteries of a normal gauge. Angioplasty can be performed on this group
as well, but they appear to have longer-term issues following
angioplasty. Research into C-reactive protein, which is associated with
heart attack occurrence, continues.

---------------
Half of all heart attacks strike people who have no idea they are at
risk. These people don't have high concentrations of cholesterol in
their bloodstream--the well-known indicator of heart disease.

---------------
Researchers are now finding that many people who have heart attacks do
not have arteries severely narrowed by plaque. In fact, vulnerable
plaque may be buried inside the artery wall and may not always bulge out
and block the blood flow through the artery. This is why researchers
began to look at how inflammation affects the arteries, and if
inflammation could lead to a heart attack. What they found was that
inflammation leads to the development of "soft" or vulnerable plaque.
They also found that vulnerable plaque was more than just debris that
clogs an artery, but that it was filled with different cell types that
help with blood clotting.

--------------------
Etc.

For someone who chides hospitals for the way they advertise, you sure
don't know very much about medicine. Guess it's a good thing they leave
advertising to their ad agencies and medicine to their doctors, and
leave people like you out of the loop.

Who has such bypass and doesn't have a cholesterol issue?
