As far as I can recall, they just kept blathering about how LaRussa had
only Pujols left on the bench. Looks like he was saving him as an ace
in the hole, and didn't put him on the table in time.
Or, there's still the possibility he was thinking more about the Cards
than he was about the NL All-Stars, at least part of the time.
Pujols claims to be furious about it.
