His work has actually been quite below most projections. The OBP, of course,
is where it belongs (.401), but the power numbers are, at best, rather
Bainesian: 36 XBH in 324 AB, and only 12 of those extra-base knocks have
gone yard.

And he can't even blame his relatively pedestrian results on facing LHPs on
a full-time basis for the first time in his career; his OPS is substantially
higher against lefties (.898) than against northpaws (.842).

He's a potentially potent weapon to have in a lineup, but as long as he
fails as often as he does to detonate when deployed, he'll never be as
dangerous as he could -- here's that word again -- "potentially" be. I'd
rather have him on my team than on the team I'm facing, sure, but he's not
the biggest worry you have when playing Oakland. (That honor would, of
course, fall to their League of Extraordinary Erics.)
