I absolutely hate this format... getting hits means absolutely nothing
when your leading in hits for the week by 20, same for RBI's, R's,
etc...a H2H pts system is way better when you continue to get rewarded
for "EVERY" stat,-- getting a run in roto when your ahead by 20 means
nothing, same if your down by 20...every point is meaningful in a H2H
pts based system..all pts for all stats are meaningful...does anyone
agree..

It's simply different formats. Actually, in roto getting a hit when you're
up 20 is just as important. You think other teams aren't getting hits
either? And this does apply for every category. And not only that, it is
rewarding you for consistently being a good balanced team. Teams cannot
fluke their way to victory.

Generally, every point system is flawed a certain way. I have not found any
baseball point system that didn't. They tilt to the power hitters, they tilt
to the on base guys, or they tilt to the pitchers. I still play them knowing
this in advance. Every point isn't meaningful in HTH points, you could win
by 20 or lose by 20. Just all your points goto 1 category instead of 10. And
next week, who cares what you did this week so all points you scored before
are thrown out. Kind of an odd paradox you're making.

I've only been in roto leagues in fantasy hockey, and I don't like it as
much as H2H--in our NHL Yahoo League, one team has 80 points, another 70 or
so, and there are 3 teams in the 50's...we've pretty mcuh thrown in the
towel, as we have no chance of catching either of the two teams ahead of us.

Two things I don't like about our H2H:
1. You can have a great week, but lose out to a team that had a better
week...in other words, the randomness of the schedule tends to even things
out, but also causes bad teams to get wins over better teams as much as the
other way around.
2. In our H2H, points per category are based on how well you do in the
category versus all the other teams--in other words, if you lead the 14-team
league in HR's one week with 18, you get 14 points for finishing first (13
for 2nd, etc...), so how your team does vs. the entire league comes into
play. But you could get an instance where you beat your opponent in 6
categories by a score of 8-7, while he beats you in the other 4 categories
by a score of 10-3, and he gets the win, as the total score 82-60...so how
much you win a category by comes into play. This rarely happens...what
happens more often is that one team will win Saves with 5 saves (and get 14
points), three teams tie with 4 saves (get 12 points apiece), five teams
ties with 3 saves (get 8 points apiece), two teams get 2 saves (4.5 points
each), one team gets 1 save (gets 3 points) and 2 tie with 0 points (get 1.5
points each)...so the difference between getting the 5th save over the 4th
save nets you only 2 additional points, while getting a fourth save over a
third save gets you 4 additional points. In short weeks, there can be four
teams without any saves, but they would each get 2.5 pts. for each tying for
11th...so this adds a huge randomness to the results as well.

The same occurs with Wins and SB's...so those categories have a huge effect
on the outcome for the week.
