There are 42 players on the 40 man roster so who loses thier from the 40 man
roster with the addition of Greenberg and Murton. Does Macias lose his
spot??

You mean 25 man roster....that is until the Month of September when the
roster limit increases.

I believe that the Cubs are using roster spots for DL players. So, 42
current players is not illegal.

Then why do they call it a 40 man roster? Whats the point of calling it a
40 man roster if you can have more than 40 players on it? Hence the word 40
not 41, 42, or 43 but 40.

People on the 60 day DL do not count towards the 40 man roster limit, so
there are 3 people on the 60 day DL, Nomar, Fox and Williamson, so with the
addition of Murton & Greenberg, there are actually 39 players that count
towards the 49 man limit right now (leaving 1 spot open).
