for my information, what the heck is the Rose award?
Many years ago, while I still lived in Ohio, there was a sportswriter
who was very down on (now) HOF'er Larry Doby. His rap on Doby was that
he drove in the 100 least important runs in the season (He'd drive
in 3 runs when Cleveland would win 7 - 1 and go 0-fer and strand 5 runners
when they'd lost 3-2) --- I think he called him Mr. Automatic Transmission
(no clutch).
