| The Rose Award goes to Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins, who went
three-for-five with six RBI and scored three runs in a 12-0 win over
the Chicago White Sox in the second game of a doubleheader.
In the opener, the Twins won 20-14, their most runs since scoring 23
against the Cleveland Indians on June 4, 2002.

Do ya think it might be important to mention that those three hits
were all HRs?
I suppose not since in a 24 years career spanning 3,562 games Pete
Rose had exactly one multi-HR game. >> Stay informed about: The Rose Award For 7-6-2007. |

Morneau had an incredible game, but are you implying, by this award,
that he was betting on baseball or that he did something else, perhaps
equally nasty? I mean why would you want to tie this fine young
player to a guy who has been banned form baseball? You know how bad
it has to be for a guy to get banned from baseball?

Baseball has chosen to conveniently overlook the feat of 4,256 hits, a
record that will never be broken. 4,256 hits does more than suggest
excellence, it establishes it.
The Rose Committee chooses to acknowledge such a record. That is our
implication. That is what we have established. >> Stay informed about: The Rose Award For 7-6-2007. |
