The Rose Award goes to Frank Thomas of the Toronto Blue Jays, who went
three-for-four with five RBI and scored three runs in a 6-1 win over
the Boston Red Sox.

Thomas hit three home runs, raising his total to 512 and tying Ernie
Banks and Eddie Matthews for 18th on the career list.

Boston lost for the third time in four games.

Thomas homered twice off Tim Wakefield, then hit his third against
reliever Kyle Snyder.

Thomas had three home runs one other time -- hitting them all off of
Wakefield at Fenway Park on 9-15-96.
