Rose didn't cheat at baseball. Bonds does.
You can call me all the names you want but that doesn't change the
truth. Bonds is a cheat and Rose is not.

Can you prove that? Since Rose agreed to the suspension, baseball never
had to prove that did or did not throw a game.

Instead of baseball pussyfooting around with Pete Rose.
What they ought to do is DEFINE or re-define what "Lifetime Suspension"
means.
right now it means Baseballs lifetime
they should change it to read.........Pete Roses
lifetime..............this way as soon as Rose Passes away he can be
elected to the Hall of Fame.
and Shoeless Joe can go in right now.
this is more serious than most think.
did you know Petes son who now plays for the Atlantic Leagues
Long Island Ducks now wants to be known as PJ Rose.
that almost sounds like he wants to distance himself from his Dads

> He bet on his team to win. There is nothing wrong with that.
Sure there is...
If you bet on your team to win, then you stand a chance to be managing
to win a game at the cost of the next game or the season.
Let's say you bet on the Reds to win. Your closer has pitched the last
2 games and is tired. You are up by 1 to start the 9th inning and your
pen overall is weak. Do you put the closer in to win the game, but
risk him getting a dead arm or hurt?
Normally, no, you don't put him in the game. What if you have money on
the game? $1,000, $10,000, ... You can up with many more examples
like these.
I'm tired of this, 'he only bet on his team' argument. By betting on
his team he compromised his ability to make sound decisions for his
team.
Now did he make such a decision? I don't know, but I don't have to
know. In every job there is a line you do not cross, because just
looking guilty is enough for you not to keep your job. Not fair, but
that's life. It's true in politics, for CEOs, etc.
There was a line in the sand and he crossed it. Even the veterans
committee doesn't want him back and that to me speak volumes more
than your opinion or mine...

Rose was never accused of throwing a game. Why would they have to
prove something that they never suspected him of doing?

Betting on the game and throwing the game both have the same penalty. He
admitted to betting so baseball never had to press the throwing charges.
Just because nobody had to prove it, don't claim it did not happen.

But he has never been accused of throwing a game, even by those who
investigated his activity. Are _you_ accusing him of throwing a
game? Which game are you accusing him of throwing and why do you
believe that he threw that game?

I've never claimed Rose threw a game. I simply said that baseball never
had to prove he threw a game because betting alone was sufficient for
the maximum penalty baseball could impose. Claiming that he did not
because it wasn't proven is not sufficient to say he never threw a game
as a manager.
Please do not bottom-post.

Bonds most certainly does have something to do with Rose. Every
single Rose-hater on usenet loves Baby Bonds. And every single
Bonds hater accepts Rose as the game's greatest hitter, by
definition.
Now you will say differently to defend your position. But since you
never watched baseball in the past, you never saw Rose. And since
you don't watch baseball now, you've never seen Baby Bonds. That
means that your opinion doesn't mean jackshit.

The biggest sin there is in baseball is cheating. As in Baby Bonds.

He bet on his own team to win. There is nothing at all the matter

Of course there is. Tonight I bet on my own team, and tomorrow I
don't. I'd sacrifice tomorrow's game to win today.
