George took a lot of hits in his career. Coincidentally, I watched Big
George-Smokin' Joe II last night on TV. They were doing some serious
brawling.

Superman and Lex Luthor are arch-rivals. How many times has Lex won?

They're archenemies, perhaps... in fantasy world.

actually there was an episode of when they are both old & supe
takes lex to a far away planet where he doesnt have super powers
and where lex is a good guy & a hero. supe lets him win there.

apparently this was the 2nd time they did that.

what i dont know is why lex then agrees to end it &
return to earth.

so, since DC comics began, lex has a better
record than the red sox. Wink

I don't think so.

Navratilova was the clear best of the two, so where's the rivalry?

i'm going for Benn vs Eubank, which was exhilerating stuff; it's
interesting how although Benn never beat Eubank he seems to have
maintained a greater reputation as a fighter, for making further
inroads with the American audience than Eubank.

Fantasy or not, so many real world media have described Superman and Lex as
arch-rivals that it's almost the very definition of the word. It doesn't
matter that the characters are imaginary. The description is still real.

And on the Red Sox/Yankee rivalry, no other team has pushed the Yankees to
their limit, or even their breaking point, as often as the Sox do. That
implies a very "even competition". And your trolling won't change that.

I know. The Planet was Lexor and he was a hero because he prevented the
planet from blowing up a la Krypton. Lex agrees to return to Earth because
Superman let him keep face in front of his followers. The DC editors wanted
to show that Lex could be a decent human being under the right
circumstances.

Oh, come on. That's just silly. They played *eighty* times. Chris won 37
of them to Martina's 43. True, Evert's wins were heavily skewed toward the
beginning of the rivalry, but she did win occasionally later on. Also,
Evert was the most consistently excellent tennis player in history. Just
because Martina often beat her doesn't mean it wasn't a rivalry. I think it
was the greatest rivalry in women's tennis.

Someone is not necessarily "trolling" merely because they disagree with
you. Over any relevant timespan, the number that matters is : Yankees
(X > 5), Red Sox 0, up to and including Yankees 26, Red Sox 0.

Yeah.. there's a rivalry!

Who's Benn ??

We can't necessarily rely on what the 'mass' of

Other teams have beaten the Yankees.

Chris Evert's husband was also apparently better than her, so perhaps
a Lloyd-Navratilova match or two would have been interesting?
