Right, because people in Indonesia live and die for a little Army-Navy
action.

Ali-Frazier transcended boxing. Ali is arguably the greatest

Again: I don't give a damn about boxing. Most people in Brazil used to do
(before Popó won the belts of course)
To say Ali is the greatest sports figure ever is at least a lack of culture.
Jesse Owens, Mark Spitz, Paavo Nurmi, all of them are WAY superior than Ali.
Ali is the greatest boxer of all time, with that I will agree.
But to claim Ali as the greatest sportist? And that his feud was the best
rivalry?
In your own words, Ali-Frazier was "insignificant" to most people. >> Stay informed about: Best Rivalry of all time in any sport |

It really illustrates the depths to which boxing has descended. Ali
was possibly the most revered sports figure of the 20th century. He
was admired by all sorts of people, all over the world, in all walks
of life, from all social classes. His was probably the only face,
sports figure anyways, that could stop traffic anywhere in the world.
As you say, he transcended the sport.
Kids nowadays can't really appreciate this. >> Stay informed about: Best Rivalry of all time in any sport |

As athletes probably yes.
As a sports figure none of them can touch Ali.

Pelé did way more.
People stopped a civil war to watch him play.
No athlete ever beat that (and I doubt one will in the future) >> Stay informed about: Best Rivalry of all time in any sport |

Sports figure means what exactly?
No matter, actually, as Pelé is way superior than Ali in any field, inside
and outside sports. >> Stay informed about: Best Rivalry of all time in any sport |
