That replacement part you sent us for the second stage rocket launcher (its
part number: catcher, and as you know the part number for the first stage
launcher is pitcher), has a major problem. It's serial number is Brayan
Pena. The original part, serial number Johnny Estrada, was damaged by a
deranged vandal who is now on the terrorist watch list. We were quite
pleased with the way the Estrada unit launched its rockets are were told
that the Brayan Pena unit was a newer design. Unfortunately,it launches
really slowly (seems like it's arm has to wind up a lot), then the travel on
the same arm is really long, then when the launch finally occurs, the
rocket's (for reference, part number: baseball) guidance system must be
effected, since the rocket goes really slow, then executes a funny loop,
starting left then fading back to the right, and doesn't come close to the
target. Our field engineers (lead engineer is Bobby Cox, one of the best in
the business) have never seen anything like this. Since our rockets can no
longer intercept enemy personnel trying to steal bags of sand from us, this
is having a major impact on our success. If you can't repair this, I'm
afraid we'll have to return the part to you.
Sincerely,
The Atlanta Braves Aerospace Program

Nah, I think it was a suicide stealer (and I think he was actually safe!)

Were you around the RPI Playhouse in 1992?
We were having some, shall we say, personality conflicts with one of
the people in the sound department. Smart guy but a bit lacking in
real-world people skills [and he went to RPI? Shocking...]. One
afternoon, just shooting the shee, someone got the idea to write a
metaphorical letter to Microsoft, complaining about our problems with
one of their programs: [name name], Sound Technician version 1.0.
The content of the letter was very much in the vein of Bob's post. We
wrote it, had a good laugh, and someone actually put up the stamp money
to mail it to Redmond.
Weeks pass and the letter is forgotten. Until someone comes bursting
into the building one afternoon, waving something and yelling, "They
wrote back!!!" Apparently, someone at Microsoft not only read the
letter, but made out a reply to us on a postcard. Someone with a good
sense of humor too- using much of the same sarcastic style as in our
original.
I like to think that our letter is posted on the wall of someone's
cubicle, still fueling "What is that?" stories to this day. >> Stay informed about: Richmond, We Have a Problem |
