Do you Ranger fans believe Buck Showalter should have been fired? I am
a huge Buck Showalter fan since he was the Yankee Manager. I quit
being a Yankee fan since George Steinbrenner 'fired' him [in my eyes]
I followed him to the Dbacks but stayed with the Dbacks when he was
fired from there too. However, my heart followed him to the Rangers.

What are your thoughts?

I truly believe the Rangers will win the 2007 World Series.

Hope you're right on the 2007 series.

I'm not sure if Buck was what was wrong with this team, but it had
become clear that he had lost the players. They didn't seem to follow
him. I pretty much liked him, occasionally would disagree with some of
his moves, but there must have been something going on behind the
scenes. Hope he picks up another gig. Wouldn't mind seeing him back on
ESPN.

Yes. Simple fact is that it was time for a replacement. Nothing against
Buck. He is an upstanding guy, but baseball is a business and when the team
isn't doing well then it's time to change leadership. It's unfortunate.
Sometimes it's just bad luck.

Johnny is managing in that great dugout in the sky.

There's no question the manager becomes a scapegoat, and expectations vary
- look at Oakland this week.

Well, this year - yes. In the past few years, in fact, situational hitting
has been less-than stellar. Big numbers, sure, but not always at the right
times and matching the situation.

I hope that was real curiosity and not an attempt at a joke.

For some reason, I don't remember him passing. He definitely put up
the best results of any manager in TX history.
Now I'm sad. Sad
