Well, I didn't see the game, but off the top of my head I can think of
two reasons you'd intentionally walk somebody.
1) You think you've got more chance of getting the *next* guy out for
the third out.
2) You still need two outs, there isn't a runner on first, and you think
you can get the next guy to hit the ball to an infielder for a double
play.
OH, and I've just thought of:
3) There are runners on and you think the current batter has a good
chance of hitting a home run, you have an empty base, and you think you
can get the next guy(s) without giving up as many runs.
