There is nothing more pathetic than a professional team that quits. Look up
the word "quitter" in the dictionary and the entire Marlins team will be
pictured. These losers have folded like a cheap suit in the past two weeks
when it became evident to them that they were out of the playoff hunt. I'd
fire McKeon tomorrow.

Team chemistry means a lot. If there is conflict between players and
coaches / manager, then you are not having good chemistry. It's not about
quitting, its about internal problems that didn't get resolved.

I'm fully expecting a fire sale. Many players will be asking for a lot
more money next year and we'll see a lot of our pitching and power gone
next year. Time to head back to the cellar of the whole National league.

Well, as long as one of the departees is Mota, fine with me. The man
is NOT a closer, he wasn't in L. A., and he won't be here. Probably
Jones won't be back, just as well, he might be a "one season wonder".
Dontrelle and Beckett are the only sure starters for next season,
though Vargas has a pretty good chance to stay in the rotation,
especially w/ Burnett leaving. Delgado and Cabrera were great, if
Pierre and Lowell can return to form, could be a pretty good team next
year.

The following players are the only ones who have contracts beyond 2005:
Carlos Delgado, Paul LoDuca, Jeff Conine, Juan Pierre, Luis Castillo,
Mike Lowell, Alex Gonzalez, Juan Encarnacion and Ron Villone.

The whole pitching rotation at this time does NOT have contracts for
2006. Not unless they got extensions late this year and it's not posted
on the internet where I usually find their contracts. Most of them do
have protected contracts which means there may be options listed in the
contracts that they must stay under certain conditions. But if not, we
may have a whole new rotation. I'm sure if they are up for
renegotiating their contracts they will be seeking a lot more money now
that they are eligible to make more the league minimums.

Why was there no problem with the manager or the team chemistry when
the were winning a World Series a couple years ago?? Most of the roster
is the same... makes you wonder.

Wait 'till next year! Pinnella will keep them on their toes.
