Pujols, stealing and scoring from 2nd base on an infield chopper is one
of the most heads-up plays I've seen in a long time. Pujols is a great
baserunner. He's not slow, but he's no where near the faster runner on
the team. He makes up for that with his experience and savvy.
He darts home based solely on the fact that the second baseman didn't
look at him. I don't think he thought that there could possibly be a
play at the plate when the runner started at 2nd. Stealing on the pitch
was a huge break.
Great game. (but not for Chris Duncan, 0-for-4, 2 K's, 3 LOB, 2 E's ...
YUK!)

I don't think you can credit a runner with a SB when the batter puts the
ball in play on the pitch. But it appears he had a great jump and would
have probably had it stolen.
Had he not been going, there would have been no chance of scoring. As it
was - had the second baseman paid closer attention - Pujols probably
would not have scored.

How about that catch Ankiel made? Not pretty, but he stuck with that
one like a bloodhound. Considering all the errors made in the OF last
night, there must have been a serious mitigating factor, even if it
was alcohol and not wind or lights. Close call for best defensive play
of the game between Ankiel and Izturis. >> Stay informed about: Pujols scores from 2nd in Rockie game |

No not at all Cardsfan....I fail to see the correlation between me knowing
that Izzy and Dunk are dead weights on this team and me being a glass half
empty kind of guy or are you actually trying to say that if I don't agree
with you then you'll start with the condescending remarks to try to win your
argument? I thought so...it's a pretty common tactic.

I think you focus on the negative and are basing your judgments on what is
an inadequate sample size so far this season.
If you've been reading here for any length of time, you'll know I'm not a
fan of Duncan's. Of the relievers the Cardinals have, I'd give the ball to
Isringhausen with a game on the line.
