I'm tired of hearing how this wont be an exciting WS. Off the top of my head
I can think of at least x stories that excite me about this WS.
1. The emascualtion of Josh Beckett: For 3 years we've been hearing how
awesome he's going to be. He's been up and down with injuries and
inconsistencies but it seems now he just gets it. Can he continue to do
that? I'm looking forward to finding out.
2. Juan "The Thief" Pierre: This guy makes you change the way you play
defense. Bunt single here, slapshot the other way there. He steals bases
almost at will. How you can not enjoy watching this guy play?
3. Messy rotations: Both teams rotations are messed up, starters are
pitching on short rest. This wont even out till game 3 at best.
4. The continuing struggles of Jason Giambi: The man just looks completely
out of sorts. He's fouling off pitches that he would have crushed last year,
or even earlier this year. He just can't seem to get to the baseball.
5. The coming of Miguel Cabrera: This kid was in AA ball at the beginning of
the year, now he's batting cleanup for a team which is 1-0 in the WS. This
might be the best story of all.
6. Fuck you. Regards, Pudge: Why was no one else prepared to take a chance
on Ivan Rodriguez? He's showing once again why he's the best catcher in the
game?
7. D-Lee: The guy hit 31 HR, stole 25 bases is 6'5 and plays GG calibre D.
How can you not love him?
8. Hideki Matsui: It's just a pleasure watching him hit. No fuss, no
stepping out between pitches he just goes about his business, and more often
than not he delivers.
That's just a few things that came instantly to mind. Maybe a Cubs-Sox
series would have been nice. But it's not to be, be it because of a fan or
due to Grady Little's refusal to leave the shelter of his dugout, so why not
just enjoy what's there?
