A lack of loyalty here. Chico has done everything that was asked of him.
His recent slump is probably due to overuse. Skip one turn in the
rotation. Why send him down to accomodate another washed up 4th
outfielder? This is especially a terrible move at long as Ryan "cut me"
Langerhans slinks around our clubhouse. The team went into a mild slump as
Watson was unjustly send down. I suspect a slump will follow this turkey
of a move.

Chico even has a better batting average than Langerhans...
But, he has had some bad starts, not just the unlucky inning, or a
mistake pitch that cost him a game. I thought it unfair to Bacsik to lose
his spot, but he's apparently not in future plans like Chico is. So, going
down to AAA is for his own good.
Watson playing every day is for his own good, as well. Probably as trade
bait. With two weeks before rosters expand, and the season being what it is,
I guess the braintrust has accepted the status quo.
They say Langerhans has a sweet swing. Maybe his bat has fear of the
ball... >> Stay informed about: Poor move: Sending Chico down while Langerhans takes up sp.. |

Yes, keep in mind that any option moves are just temporary, given that 9/1
isn't too far away. I do wish Chico had been taken out of the rotation
before Bacsik, but when you only score 2 runs, you're probably not going to
win, anyhow. >> Stay informed about: Poor move: Sending Chico down while Langerhans takes up sp.. |

Everything you guys are saying is true, but they are screwing up the
team. Church was finally out of his funk and now he'll be platooned.
All because Bowden loves Cincy. There is one good outfielder in Cincy,
we are getting the 3 bad ones. Does anyone doubt that the free agent
signing over the summer will be Adam Dunn? Yup, Dunn, Pena, and Kearns
will be our outfield next season. That'll be 400 strikeouts per season.

I guess they figured Chico deserved his chances, and they had fewer
choices as the season wore on, but he did seem to draw the opposing team's
better starters. I've read nothing phases him, unlike Patterson, so I
suppose they figured the experience will help him in the long run, just like
Glavine's first year. Glavine himself was reported to have told him so. >> Stay informed about: Poor move: Sending Chico down while Langerhans takes up sp.. |

That's my fear, as well, with nothing but strikeout artists (FLop
included). I agree with you on Church, although maybe his future is already
decided, so they don't care about his feelings. I can't say I blame them,
despite his recent resurgence. He just doesn't seem to fit, and I'm sure
they haven't forgotten about his "competitive spirit" from last year. >> Stay informed about: Poor move: Sending Chico down while Langerhans takes up sp.. |

I forgot to mention that I'm glad Ladson was wrong, and that they kept
Nook in CF. The guy's upped his batting average to .273, has 17 stolen
bases, apparently fielding better, and I like him as the 8th hitter*. I see
a future for Nook that I don't see for Church.
* from my Strat-o-matic manager days, where I would put my second best
lead-off guy batting 8th. If you walk him to get to the pitcher, he could
steal, then sac, sac fly, and run scored. If late, you have a RISP for a
pinch-hitter. >> Stay informed about: Poor move: Sending Chico down while Langerhans takes up sp.. |
