I don't post to this list very often but I have been a lurker for years
and I enjoy the amount of information and opinion this list provides.
This is for anybody who lives in the San Diego Area and would be willing
to slip 2 or 3 pocket schedules into an envelope and mail them to me. I
live in Las Vegas, NV and while I can get the Padres on Radio here
this year I am running into a bit of a snag getting some Pocket
Schedules. I usually call the radio station and they throw 4 or 5 in an
envelope and send them to me. This year I called and the lady that
answered said well we don't normally mail them. When I explained that I
was 8 to 10 hours a way by driving and that all the other stations that
used to carry the Padres had sent them to me in the past she relented
and took my address. I think I will be lucky if this woman mails me
one. If anyone would be interested in sending me a few (I always try to
have one in the car, one at work etc...) schedules e-mail me off list
and I'll give you my address. I have been a Padres fan since 1973 and
before the internet my only way of getting Padres info was to hope that
I could pull them in with my radio when I lived on the coast of Central
California (The local newspaper was lucky to have a 4 to 5 line summary
of the game and the box score). I live a bit closer now but and I can
get 1090 but I would like to have a few pocket schedules also. I also
miss things like bumper stickers or antenna balls or other such things
with the Padres logo on them that are available from time to time in the
local area.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Just curious...

Why does it take you 8-10 hours to drive to SD from Vegas? And why don't
you print schedules off the internet? I'd be happy to send you some too if
you really need them Smile I'll be picking up my Opening day tix this week
from Will Call. I can pick you up some then. Let me know...

Well you can probably get their faster if someone has not brought I-15
to a standstill with some incredible feat of driving that results in
serious injury or death but I would not count on it! I can print
schedules off the net but the Pocket schedules are a tradition with me
and I have been saving them for years. I am not sure if they will ever
be worth anything and I'm not sure I care. It's just a nice way for me
to touch base with my team. You can tell a lot from that little
schedule. The team colors and logo changes thru the years. The kinds
of promotions and the sponsors. Sometimes just the print style or
typeface will speak of a bygone era. If you could pick me up two or
three I'd be very grateful. I would like to get to the new park this
year but I'll miss Jack Murphy stadium (That's what I'll always call it)
since I proposed to my wife their in the 7th inning stretch of a game
in September against the Giants.

E-mail me off list and I'll send you my address.

I-15 can be bad if you hit it at "rush hour", but I've generally had pretty
good luck on it.
My typical driving time to Vegas is somewhere around 6 hours, and that
includes a lunch stop in Barstow (usually at the Foster's Freeze... a family
tradition since the 50's!)

I agree about the pocket schedules... the ones you can print off the
internet are nice, but they don't travel well.

Cool story about proposing to your wife! Surprised)

I still have the ticket stub from that game and it was 16 years ago.
Her first reaction was that my team was winning and that I could take it
back if I wanted to. LOL

Hey Stone, I have a shitload of schedules sitting around from as far back
as the 70's. Are there any years you need? Let me know and I can stick
them in an envelope for you and send them out.
