I didn't see the game, just heard the radio b'cast. For those who did
see it, what happened with Schneider's play at the plate in the 9th?
Was it as bad as it sounded?
About 50 things went wrong again, including the now-mandatory "No RBIs
after the 4th Inning" but wouldn't that have been nice if we could
have just nailed the runner at the plate? No bullpen BS, no drawn out
torturous 13 inning meltdown. Just tag him and go home. >> Stay informed about: Play at the plate in the 9th |

The throw, coming from Easley in short rightfield, arrived before the
runner, but on an in-between hop. In his rush to gather the throw and tag
the runner, Schneider missed the ball altogether. On the TV side, Keith was
suggesting that the problem was with the throw itself, not Schneider's
inability to handle it cleanly. >> Stay informed about: Play at the plate in the 9th |

Thanks. Most have been saying that Schneider should have been able to
deal with that throw. Just heard Evan Roberts echo Keith's comment
though.
Enigmatic game, to be sure. 7 runs but we needed to score more. Felt
like another bullpen meltdown, but when you look at the numbers, it
seems like they did OK. >> Stay informed about: Play at the plate in the 9th |

Schneider should have made the play.
A catcher with balls blocks the plate - the throw was fine.

Sorry - but I have to disagree here. The throw was an in-between hop
and skidded when it bounced. Damon Easley was only 10 to 15 feet onto
the grass and should have been able hit thye catcher without the
bounce. I watched a 15-year old on my son's team make the same play
last night and he was able to throw a staight bullet to the catcher. >> Stay informed about: Play at the plate in the 9th |

Everyone acknowledges that the throw was not ideal, but many have
questioned whether it could have been handled anyway. We supposedly
have the light-hitting Schneider for his defense, but he has had some
crucial lapses... not saying that this was one, but many have said
that it should have been handled. I was wondering if it had anything
to do with runners bearing down on him, etc. >> Stay informed about: Play at the plate in the 9th |
